Groovy Times Birthday Card

When I first saw this cartridge I knew I had to have it. I can relate to so many of the images on it! A dear friend recently celebrated a birthday, and since he is the oldest of our group (by a few months) we always tease him about being older than the rest of us. He takes it well though and it's always all in good fun. By the way, he and my husband have been friends since middle school and he and his wife and Tim and I used to double date in high school. We somehow all ended up here in Texas together and are the best of  friends.

This card was different for me. It is a tri-fold and a little bigger than I usually make. (sorry, I didn't write down the dimensions.) All the cuts are from the Cricut Groovy Times Cartridge. The printed paper is from the DCWV  Peace, Love, Happiness stack, a perfect match for the cartridge! The font on the last page is from the Lite Feeling Groovy cartridge. I made up the poem and it was generated in word. I'm just glad my friend has a sense of humor!

Post It Holders

I love these things and have been wanting to make some for a while. I looked at several online and at different tutorials and was able to create a cut file for them on the Gypsy. Don't know if you can see it, but there is a little "shelf" that the mini gel pen sits on. Another great thing is that you can use scraps for the designs. That's what I did on these. The houses are both from the new Welcome Spring Mini cartridge. Sorry, can't figure out how to get them side by side on here. Looks like Blogger has made some changes since I last posted and I'm not so sure I like them.

Catching Up

Yikes, it's the middle of February already. I have been busy, just not updating the blog.(insert frown here) January was a busy month our family. My grandson Carter turned 3, I can't believe it. He's growing up too fast! Here's the card I made for him:
I used my Imagine and the Hopscotch cartridge to make the background paper. The Giraffe is from Birthday Bash. I had to add Googly eye because Carter loves them! The background oval was embossed with the Sizzix Hearts #4 folder then inked with Stampin Up Daffodil Delight. I put some glossy accents on the roller skates, but don't know if that shows too well in the picture.

Some really big news last month was the arrival of our third grandchild, a boy, Felix VI. He was 10 days early and caught us all by surprise. Mom and baby are doing fine. I do get a little break now though while my daughter is on maternity leave, just watching his big sister occasionally when mom needs a break. But that means in March I will have both of them full time. Wish me luck! Here he is, just a few minutes old and already smiling for the camera!

Isn't he cute? He already looks so different from when this picture was taken.
I hope you all had a great beginning of the new year and that things just keep getting better! I have some more projects to post so I'll be doing that over the next several days.
