It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I'll fill you in on that another time. Today, as most of you probably know, is National Scrapbook Day. Some of the Cricut Circle members and myself have been spending the day doing some fun tutorials and challenges. I've been spending a lot of time lately sewing, well more specifically machine embroidery, so I decided the perfect topic for me today would be stitching on your paper craft projects. I think that stitching is an easy way to add some interest to a project and also to give it a more finished appearance. Here are a few samples:<br />

<br />
If you have a sewing machine and want to give it a try, here are a few pointers:<br />
>Use a good quality, medium weight cardstock.<br />
>A smaller needle, sz 11 or 12 works best.<br />
>Adhere your pieces together before sewing<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
to prevent shifting but make sure you don't put any adhesive directly under the areas where the stitching will be. It can gum up your needle.<br />
>Don't limit yourself to straight or even zig-zag stitches. If your machine has decorative options, give them a try.<br />
>To prevent the stitching from coming out, pull your thread to the back side and tie it off.<br />

This method leaves the front of your project looking more finished without the bulkiness of back stitching.<br />

Of course, you don't have to have a machine to sew. You can always do hand stitching or use a product such as We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy. There are also stamps available that mimic machine stitches. One of my favorite techniques is faux stitching created with a marker or pen.<br />
I used a white Signo Uniball pen around the edges of this card.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My challenge to you is, you guessed it, create something and put some stitching on it! It can be any project and any kind of stitching you like. (But I dare you to dust off that sewing machine and give that a try!)<br />
You can post your project on my post on the Circle MB or, if you're not a member, you can leave a link to your project in the comments here. Please be sure to also leave me a way to contact you if you should win. The challenge will be open until 6 PM CST May 16th and a winner will be chosen by random drawing on May 17th. <br />
This is what you have a chance to win:<br />

<br />
I have a lot of work ahead of me, so the first thing I had to do was come up with a plan. Since I'll be getting everything out of the room I'm currently in, I have to find another spot for it and the most logical choice is what is now the guest room, the room my sewing stuff is in. I have to pare down to my most needed supplies, then the rest will go in storage or, if I don't need/use it, it will be sold or donated. My sewing machines and die cut machines will be staying and I'll be using my sewing cabinet as my work space. I have plastic bins and a suitcase that I will store things in and they will go under the bed. (Thanks to Jenny and Barbara S. from the message board for those suggestions!) I decided to start with the closet in that room, since that's where my machines will be when I'm not using them. Unfortunately, nothing is ever as easy as it should be.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmp1WymIkuhP8DsoYyT-odF4NlZW4h-0IqUDCl1aI1mf1w4f7TdFd4q6ZYdhVA-uyL8vDHtvzas3DMaQfAUAA9KloCFKzTip0v4liaM3ZLg_HSeb9bjlWQsnxPQYCND2c2nyPX_bjvbT-a/s1600/DSC_0076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmp1WymIkuhP8DsoYyT-odF4NlZW4h-0IqUDCl1aI1mf1w4f7TdFd4q6ZYdhVA-uyL8vDHtvzas3DMaQfAUAA9KloCFKzTip0v4liaM3ZLg_HSeb9bjlWQsnxPQYCND2c2nyPX_bjvbT-a/s1600/DSC_0076.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
As I started pulling things out of the closet, I realized that I did not have enough boxes or bins to put things in. Also, we do not have a storage unit rented yet, so I wouldn't have anywhere to put those things after I did get them boxed up. I intended to use the room itself to store things as I went, but then my mother in law called to let us know that she and one of my husband's aunts are coming for a short visit in a couple of weeks. That means I need the room to be a room for just a while longer.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is what came out of the closet! I sorted everything into four groups: keep here, store, sell/donate, trash. Then I put all like things together and packed them accordingly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I ended up putting it all back in the closet, but it is organized and will be easy enough to take out and deal with it when the time comes. There are still a few small things that have to be boxed up, but that will be easy enough to do. The things in the back corner on the floor and shelf are items that I'm getting rid of. The things in the bottom picture will be stored.<br />
While I didn't exactly accomplish what I intended, I feel pretty good about this first step. Next week when my husband gets back from his business trip we'll be getting that storage unit and then I think I'll be able to make some real progress. While he's gone I'm going to start sorting things in my scrap room. I'll keep you posted!<br />
Accomplished: sorted and organized guest bedroom closet<br />
Things to do: 1.get storage unit<br />
2. get more boxes<br />
3. survive mother in law's visit!<br />
OK, that last one was a joke. I love my mother in law and we always have fun when we're together. I may even be able to convince her to help me pack some stuff!<br />
Thanks for stopping by! Mariahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02524660914246023884noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873121388202407451.post-20994897678801710102014-01-30T08:00:00.000-06:002014-02-03T15:47:21.374-06:00Warning: this is a long, pic heavy post!<br />
I have some big news; my husband and I are moving. Well, at least we will be as soon as we sell our house. We haven't put it on the market yet though, because we have a few small projects to finish and we also have to de-clutter before we can even think about showing it. This of course means that my craft room will have to get packed up and moved, which is quite a daunting task! The room that currently houses most of my crafty belongings just happens to be the largest of the secondary bedrooms in house, and we will have to clear it out and make it look like a bedroom for showing. To say that I'm not looking forward to doing it would be a huge understatement! I thought maybe if I posted about it and shared some pictures, it would help me get motivated to actually start working on it. So, here goes. I have <u>a lot</u> of stuff and I have never quite been able to organize it the way I wanted. I have started to go through it already and have some stuff set aside to purge.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU-R3uBYuJZjquBnamYwzZnKEEYpTDHyahigPyPx_CF305KEHFsmgzaW6QoVneZdlrAQj7yZHw0PYwQI9oBzIj_PxxwDwjbzcgyfewWqMmnBDOX3Q4vNOoxE-YYR3P4LGR4OCR0gFc5JAk/s1600/DSC_0052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU-R3uBYuJZjquBnamYwzZnKEEYpTDHyahigPyPx_CF305KEHFsmgzaW6QoVneZdlrAQj7yZHw0PYwQI9oBzIj_PxxwDwjbzcgyfewWqMmnBDOX3Q4vNOoxE-YYR3P4LGR4OCR0gFc5JAk/s1600/DSC_0052.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the view into the room from the doorway. My husband made the desk that's in the center by the window. That's his side you're looking at and those are his shelves on the wall. That's pretty much all of the room he takes up! Well, maybe a small spot of the cabinet behind him.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkmMd9XAs5lDMMVjPM7ZcxiUZYCagrTWxLNjNJ6oYp9Rz8J8xxsM1xeBx9nycdIBoxjL-s9FmEGoZ0K4x95-zZOFLueu4iSGM-szJHRExrkHkhl9Usk0iApEQQf2r9wGcDab3uurbs1v6B/s1600/DSC_0053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkmMd9XAs5lDMMVjPM7ZcxiUZYCagrTWxLNjNJ6oYp9Rz8J8xxsM1xeBx9nycdIBoxjL-s9FmEGoZ0K4x95-zZOFLueu4iSGM-szJHRExrkHkhl9Usk0iApEQQf2r9wGcDab3uurbs1v6B/s1600/DSC_0053.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
We found this cabinet on the side of the road. We stripped it and painted it and Tim made the top. As you can see, it holds my heat press, Ebosser and guillotine cutter. The drawers have paints and supplies for the Yudu, machine embroidery thread, washi tape and misc. tools. The shelves next to it hold <u>some</u> of my 6 X 6 and 8 X 8 paper pads.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And here are my 12 X 12 stacks, more 6 X 6 and loose papers. The drawers are mostly empty, I'll show you why in a minute. The wire baskets have stamps in them.<br />

This is my big L shaped desk that Tim made for me back when I used to sew a lot. It was perfect for that, but never really has worked out for my paper crafting. I decided that I don't like having the cabinets because I can't see what I have or remember where I put anything. The shelves have more stamps, Stampin up and others that are in Iris photo boxes then stacked in plastic crates. My Cricut and Cameo are on the rolling cart, along with my Cuttlebug, more stamps in photo boxes and my Janome Mini sewing machine. My copic markers and Xyron machines are on a shelf underneath the desk where my chair is. <br />

This is the mess that is my side of the desk! I have a small Clip it Up on the left side that has more stamps. The larger one in the foreground is one we made and it has some of my Nestability dies and embellishments. The black box on the dest was originally made for Quickcutz dies, but it hold my Distress ink pads. The black binders underneath have my embossing folders in them. There are also some Sterlite boxes with embossing powders and flock in them. There are shelves on the left side and I have boxes with adhesives, etc in them. I also have rolls of vinyl and my Copic paper there. That pile in front of the window is some of the stuff I'm getting rid of and some packages of stuff I haven't put away yet. :/<br />

This is the closet. Yikes! More paper, ribbon, beading supplies, Cricut cartridges and handbooks and just a bunch of other junk I thought I'd need for future projects.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzPJ6siJ1QO9NdyEgfQ9NyRKMMXoGrQLrad_P_C9neCi8p1nt9TEOKlE07zS62_1GAE0EJBlP0RRYQmH4aMhFRPjnswoF6m7WB66uDP1I5kJrbi82DcL9kSpiPeukOaoCOxQs4Otwweqf2/s1600/DSC_0062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzPJ6siJ1QO9NdyEgfQ9NyRKMMXoGrQLrad_P_C9neCi8p1nt9TEOKlE07zS62_1GAE0EJBlP0RRYQmH4aMhFRPjnswoF6m7WB66uDP1I5kJrbi82DcL9kSpiPeukOaoCOxQs4Otwweqf2/s1600/DSC_0062.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
And more ribbon!<br />
But that's not the worst of it! I have so much stuff, I couldn't fit it all in one room!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My sewing stuff is in another bedroom across the hall. I do love this cabinet though, I got it from Walmart.com for $99!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI18XsX8vQBiVZHtSxTSoMgGXOVLICI0sPOpZ7mcRTB6M4UEKSGQUYT5RsfbRi0R8wGClLkB8xQZXRFTYtlVca0S4pTSp-K6XtY98ikLqNXWQ6j20oHwPpJAqrQO6uo3N2WWV8JKB3bCYp/s1600/DSC_0068.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI18XsX8vQBiVZHtSxTSoMgGXOVLICI0sPOpZ7mcRTB6M4UEKSGQUYT5RsfbRi0R8wGClLkB8xQZXRFTYtlVca0S4pTSp-K6XtY98ikLqNXWQ6j20oHwPpJAqrQO6uo3N2WWV8JKB3bCYp/s1600/DSC_0068.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
Yes, there's stuff in this bedroom closet too. Fabric, yarn, patterns, thread, books and magazines. My embroidery machine is just under that bottom shelf, along with some other things.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2r9PcdhZIsbTOSJx4lJMwdGmOVtDp5vzTnWkRHBRuDgn74XJRs06GsPlHVKEpRx4Eljq7-vEUzDlLMQpYgPcGZv5epo8epFSSuaaKDx1qOdzBCX8nJKe00NNZol9UZmiE6E_WxAVLhlnq/s1600/DSC_0066.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2r9PcdhZIsbTOSJx4lJMwdGmOVtDp5vzTnWkRHBRuDgn74XJRs06GsPlHVKEpRx4Eljq7-vEUzDlLMQpYgPcGZv5epo8epFSSuaaKDx1qOdzBCX8nJKe00NNZol9UZmiE6E_WxAVLhlnq/s1600/DSC_0066.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the corner of the room that I've started piling things to get rid of in. The big plastic drawers have my photo lights and more Yudu supplies in them. I'm happy to say that the smaller plastic drawers are not mine! Haha!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaZmSZfTEmBqSgub8sqOwmk7dO-nnLO7JlJyYa9NZGCDln3Adv_7SAVcOpMS6GV0s9BK2FP1_PKTnL_MbbJ3lzP56ct3fjQlxFvJmNXBoPwbfgSmHqoMRokp8-LFnIo_c2GGbqZVOg3wPJ/s1600/DSC_0072.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaZmSZfTEmBqSgub8sqOwmk7dO-nnLO7JlJyYa9NZGCDln3Adv_7SAVcOpMS6GV0s9BK2FP1_PKTnL_MbbJ3lzP56ct3fjQlxFvJmNXBoPwbfgSmHqoMRokp8-LFnIo_c2GGbqZVOg3wPJ/s1600/DSC_0072.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the reason some of my drawers are already empty. I invested in the Scraprack system last year to start organizing my embellishments. So far I'm liking it, but this one is already full and I need to get more supplies. I keep it on a rolling cart and right now it's in a niche in the hallway. The second shelf on the cart has my Cricut Solution cartridges in Jukeboxes and the rest is just random stuff that I need to go through.<br />
My plan is to start going through it a section at a time, deciding what I can't live without for the next few months, then packing or purging the rest. I'll be documenting my progress here, if for no other reason than to keep me on task. Wish me luck!<br />
Oh, and I welcome any and all suggestions from those of you have been through this process. I've gotten a few ideas already from some the wonderful ladies on the Cricut message board. I will definitely be implementing a few of them.<br />
Have a wonderful day and if you read all the way to this point, I thank you!Mariahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02524660914246023884noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873121388202407451.post-66735908547616809772013-08-25T17:08:00.000-05:002013-08-25T17:08:28.089-05:00You Had Me at BaconBet that title sparked your interest! A few months ago Simon Says Stamp released a stamp set called Sizzle On designed by Kelly Purkey. I don't know why, but I felt the need to own it, and this weekend I actually used it. <br />
The past week on the Circle board we've been having a "debate" over which image on the new Charmed cartridge is cuter, the pig or the bear. It has turned into a fun contest and challenge. So far, despite some claims to the contrary, I believe the pigs are winning! Here is my contribution:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af182/mariacjo/P1010625_zpsc11e2bc6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af182/mariacjo/P1010625_zpsc11e2bc6.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
The printed papers are from October Afternoon and DCWV. The heart border is a Martha Stewart punch. Piggy is from the Charmed cartridge and the stamped sentiment from Simon Says Stamp. If you want to check out the stamp set, you can find it <a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-57364/bacon-bac513-keep-calm/Detail" target="_blank">HERE</a>.<br />

solutions cart! </div>
For my project today I made an Advent calendar that is also a banner. To do this I needed a small box that could be hung from the garland I use to decorate my mantle. I found the perfect box on the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 cartridge. It's the cone box that is found on page 63 of the handbook. I love the triangular shape of it and it already had the little ring at the top for hanging. I cut 25 of the boxes at 5" using a variety of printed paper from the K & Co. Yuletide paper pad. <br />

This is the cut image before folding. I used 1/4" Scor-tape on the flap to glue it together. The great thing about the TBB&M cartridge is that it makes the score marks for you. Simply cut your image first, hit the load mat button again, change to the Cricut Scoring blade, then use the shift feature of the image you cut. Perfect score marks every time. You can also use your regular blade, just adjust it down to 1 and adjust your pressure setting down. It may take some trial and error to get the right settings though.</div>

I used Mini Monograms for the scallop portion of the number tag. They were cut at 1 1/4". The number part of the tag was made on my Silhouette using their sketch pens. I placed them on the boxes with pop dots. Lastly, I added some small bows to the tops of the boxes. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think this will be a fun addition to my usual Christmas decor! I'll be sure to post pictures of them in December when the decorating is done. In the mean time, they store flat so I won't have to worry about them taking up a lot of space.</div>

I hope you enjoy my project and that you will continue on the hop with us. The next stop is the fabulous Laura at <a href="http://www.coolbeansbylb.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Cool Beans by LB</a>.</div>

I hope you are all having a wonderful Summer so far. Mine has been good, not too crazy yet. Although I don't have kids at home anymore, I do keep my grand kids, (I have four now, ages 10 months to 5 years!) so they have me pretty busy. Next week we are heading back home to Florida for a week and I am really looking forward to getting away for a bit and to just sitting on the beach!<br />
Lately I have rediscovered my stamps and have been playing around a lot with coloring. Today I'm sharing a couple of cards I've made.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiChS_u-mQG5hEG4i-pkX0v3nP99fAaMThxaXgIC-zN0IFs1PRRFX1hXyjM5UuIoZF_adw1bnbuPCkshFUvXVVMI5dfoqVbbVKK1m3OPcF9ZdModIgcB59iM96pcNjOtS8n4lZUT9NzsPkw/s1600/P1010568.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiChS_u-mQG5hEG4i-pkX0v3nP99fAaMThxaXgIC-zN0IFs1PRRFX1hXyjM5UuIoZF_adw1bnbuPCkshFUvXVVMI5dfoqVbbVKK1m3OPcF9ZdModIgcB59iM96pcNjOtS8n4lZUT9NzsPkw/s320/P1010568.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
This one is an stamp set from My Favorite Things. I did stamp the image twice, once on Copic X-Press for coloring then again on polka dot paper so I could fussy cut her bathing suit. The Hello Summer sentiment and tab are from the Silhouette Studio and cut with the Cameo.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV9U04AkmHzggUXrkYfv7_YG1RwhGCJsBz5nb84sMiFfT8mIRU7Iz727F4xtT-MMmk2vzbNw5gXmmWhQdrmpXYQsraDaU3oh0DY4mWnDQSxewvYkPvEROZz8eZsV4G-Xnfsv8ChxELAM83/s1600/P1010575.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV9U04AkmHzggUXrkYfv7_YG1RwhGCJsBz5nb84sMiFfT8mIRU7Iz727F4xtT-MMmk2vzbNw5gXmmWhQdrmpXYQsraDaU3oh0DY4mWnDQSxewvYkPvEROZz8eZsV4G-Xnfsv8ChxELAM83/s320/P1010575.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This is one of my favorite new stamps! It's from Bug a Boo designs and I think is just really fun! I finally used some of the spool of Airmail twine I bought a few years ago, still don't know why I thought I needed a whole spool of that, but oh well! The twine was had a white thread in it, which I didn't think looked right with the darker paper, so I darkened it up a bit by dying it with Antique Linen Distress ink. You can do this simply, and with any ink refill, by adding a few drops of ink to a little water then placing the twine in the mixture. I like to use a small zip lock type plastic bag for this. Mix it around until you have the coverage you want, then take the twine and wring the excess liquid out and let it dry. This same method works for the bias tape ribbon as well.<br />
Hope you enjoyed today's post and enjoy the rest of your day.<br />

Happy National Scrapbooking day. Some of my crafty friends and I are participating in two days of creativity and challenges. I hope you can join along with us as there are lots of great ideas and some prizes to be won, including one from me. Please read to the end of my post for more info on that!<br />
<br />
My project today is a different way to use a "nugget" tin. Nugget tins are 5 1/2" X 3 1/2" tins with a clear insert in the lid, which is hinged. A lot of crafty people use them to place Hershey Nugget candies, wrapped in pretty paper, as gifts. I thought it would be fun to alter one and make a matching set of gift cards to fit in it.<br />
<br />
To begin, I place 1/2" Washi tape around the top edge of the lid, using the lip on the bottom of the lid as a guide. I like using Washi tape for this, because it is very forgiving and easy to take off and replace if it gets crooked.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwM64bE7j9KEDljruVgwIi-1UrktBrOQ0rG7iuR-OeDhsSB4otg-f_d3CmkSpXVI1EcFCQho1dsEWrUs97tUhX9ldul88ZY2owme9ZTyL7RX2iOojig8qeciiGa4a_4f59jzA5LyNM6uVN/s1600/P1010428.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="163" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwM64bE7j9KEDljruVgwIi-1UrktBrOQ0rG7iuR-OeDhsSB4otg-f_d3CmkSpXVI1EcFCQho1dsEWrUs97tUhX9ldul88ZY2owme9ZTyL7RX2iOojig8qeciiGa4a_4f59jzA5LyNM6uVN/s320/P1010428.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Then, to cover the top, I cut a piece of card stock 5 1/4" by 3 3/8" and use a large corner rounder punch to create the rounded corners. It perfectly covers the edges of the Washi tape. I use red tape or Scor Tape for this, but any heavy duty tape will work.This is the top with the cover piece on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ4YSWsbElRacoDvZ973WWxBghnG07BPhx8O8nZlQ0cSNAfrclTp78qVMPRzFXrDd2p-CWMpjOGD44nE84FXbeRQJ4JTHwrymvi6lEL1lIKOTnbwhJwMMWn9ql8966KIywRx0X_1LOm8Pf/s1600/P1010433.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ4YSWsbElRacoDvZ973WWxBghnG07BPhx8O8nZlQ0cSNAfrclTp78qVMPRzFXrDd2p-CWMpjOGD44nE84FXbeRQJ4JTHwrymvi6lEL1lIKOTnbwhJwMMWn9ql8966KIywRx0X_1LOm8Pf/s320/P1010433.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Along the bottom edge of the tin, with the lid closed, I add a 1/2" piece of trim. You can use paper or ribbon. In this case I used a piece of lace trim.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJLt56gBvEvtVaIgr4f9OFV7prBJ23_n8-DIiz5L5BAmRS9j8HN-MVRdCGyrxRoqfyqwP35QQfxgtGljHvHnCGaUAlgM11RZqTmtVNXIO3aVTGUY6p_iHWGzX54Q7-HIypv0qhLlqNib1J/s1600/P1010436.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="154" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJLt56gBvEvtVaIgr4f9OFV7prBJ23_n8-DIiz5L5BAmRS9j8HN-MVRdCGyrxRoqfyqwP35QQfxgtGljHvHnCGaUAlgM11RZqTmtVNXIO3aVTGUY6p_iHWGzX54Q7-HIypv0qhLlqNib1J/s320/P1010436.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I finish off the outside by adding a die cut and other embellishments to match the cards I made.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYPY_uGXWd_0epO7koL0VXYsN0T61dsFQ19sZdh1ITng0Us13bm3WOhDqjjIu0H74Zdjc6UFcRlt2817ps-EoWZyvN8ZdKdUX-GsVeSUOv0xcoCt574YaH6iAVo0KBa7GYIkRB-P2C-IwT/s1600/P1010435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYPY_uGXWd_0epO7koL0VXYsN0T61dsFQ19sZdh1ITng0Us13bm3WOhDqjjIu0H74Zdjc6UFcRlt2817ps-EoWZyvN8ZdKdUX-GsVeSUOv0xcoCt574YaH6iAVo0KBa7GYIkRB-P2C-IwT/s320/P1010435.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I then added a piece of card stock, cut the same size as the top piece, to the inside bottom of the tin.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-0ga8fuCbzTrlkyX64pAFLfxriX2ezrhYEno13OvVkL6Zf9A2DiXqd6yvnmMMQv937-TeplG0whp2U-7NUXe136rQXmDS3QLNVJc8so9ihEx4fksL6cruJ6AKm6Z_0fZOhz5DINMe-44L/s1600/P1010437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-0ga8fuCbzTrlkyX64pAFLfxriX2ezrhYEno13OvVkL6Zf9A2DiXqd6yvnmMMQv937-TeplG0whp2U-7NUXe136rQXmDS3QLNVJc8so9ihEx4fksL6cruJ6AKm6Z_0fZOhz5DINMe-44L/s320/P1010437.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
For the cards, I used the Gypsy and selected one I thought would work well with the shape of the tin. Using real dial size, and sizing height and width seperately, I cut it at 6" X 5" so when folded the finished card would be 3" X 5". ***After I posted this I realized that I made a boo-boo! I made the cards to fit in the tin and forgot that the envelopes would be bigger. So guess what? The envelopes don't fit! If you plan to do this and include envelopes, size them to fit the tin, then size the cards to fit the envelope!***<br />

Hi all! For today's card I went back to the basics, not using any die cut machines. It went together so fast, the longest part of the process was choosing the papers! The design of the card was inspired by the post I saw <a href="http://www.paperboutiquewithlinda.com/2013/04/make-it-in-minutes-monday.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. Maybe if I start doing more cards like this I will actually get more done!<br />

Hi and welcome to the Holly Jolly Blog Hop. This hop will showcase projects from many wonderful crafters just in time for you to get lots of crafty holiday inspiration!<br />
If you just happened by my blog today and would like to start the hop from the beginning, please go to <a href="http://fantabulouslypink.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Fantabulously Pink</a>. If you're following the hop, then you should have arrived here from <a href="http://www.macybella.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Macy Bella Designs</a>. I'll include a complete list of hoppers at the end of my post.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
For today's project I made ornaments using large, clear plastic ornaments from Hobby Lobby and clear acetate. (I used transparency sheets from Office Depot). To start, I cut the transparency using the ornament image from the Joys of the Season cartridge. This piece should be just slightly smaller than the diameter of the ornament. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc821HrUzEG-JQFqXh5TGkgGvaWgPTXoF9jOfmSTUGB14mC1nfccSYqnRkP9-oSj97A6xdGqmG_BOPekkZr3DcdlfFgSWMmSI8UEI7G1uRgfaq0sltX2gBAB4KcNZj2xMMqhC9o-P6h5KV/s1600/P1010198.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc821HrUzEG-JQFqXh5TGkgGvaWgPTXoF9jOfmSTUGB14mC1nfccSYqnRkP9-oSj97A6xdGqmG_BOPekkZr3DcdlfFgSWMmSI8UEI7G1uRgfaq0sltX2gBAB4KcNZj2xMMqhC9o-P6h5KV/s200/P1010198.JPG" width="199" /></a></div>
<br />
The next step is to select the image. Try to find some that aren't too intricate and will cut well in small sizes. I cut most of mine around 2". Also, you don't want a lot of layers because they will be too thick and make it difficult to roll up your acetate to place in the ornament. When your image is ready, glue it to the acetate piece, not too close to the top. Let your adhesive dry, then roll the whole thing up and place it in the ornament. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYSlSCp7BYb_E7H43XVzUajdgdInSpVSsp9-K34QC781l_odFLPooF4sCvWmWymIKLJ37HlW8ynlwWHbWivgODGr-7WBlZNpwWsS4lvwhGKz2xFKs32H4Le5sWqF5rV1yW31-Ww_RjBpjo/s1600/P1010202.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYSlSCp7BYb_E7H43XVzUajdgdInSpVSsp9-K34QC781l_odFLPooF4sCvWmWymIKLJ37HlW8ynlwWHbWivgODGr-7WBlZNpwWsS4lvwhGKz2xFKs32H4Le5sWqF5rV1yW31-Ww_RjBpjo/s1600/P1010202.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYSlSCp7BYb_E7H43XVzUajdgdInSpVSsp9-K34QC781l_odFLPooF4sCvWmWymIKLJ37HlW8ynlwWHbWivgODGr-7WBlZNpwWsS4lvwhGKz2xFKs32H4Le5sWqF5rV1yW31-Ww_RjBpjo/s200/P1010202.JPG" width="199" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9abppa6Xu1PWrqTSnP7poRYI4acRJTys_0qFDVId5aeiOB2uaSkls2H_FtVBbRo-VjWRhFYBxcR9ctakYg86J8C4kR9GCCnvQckEHT7qVOUbDOgGJKOc1UjRvSfw95NpsGTHtvMQZHSvC/s1600/P1010204.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>
This is where a good pair of tweezers comes in handy! After you release the piece in the ornament, it will be a little curled, so use the tweezers to straighten it up and place it where you want it. Since my acetate was a bit short, I placed two glue dots in the ornament, just to the side of the stem. I used the seam in the ornament as a guide for placement. This was honestly the trickiest part of putting these together. It helps if you have glue dots that are a little thick. I used Dap StikArounds that I found at a hardware store. You can see the glue dot just to the left of the stem here.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9abppa6Xu1PWrqTSnP7poRYI4acRJTys_0qFDVId5aeiOB2uaSkls2H_FtVBbRo-VjWRhFYBxcR9ctakYg86J8C4kR9GCCnvQckEHT7qVOUbDOgGJKOc1UjRvSfw95NpsGTHtvMQZHSvC/s1600/P1010204.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9abppa6Xu1PWrqTSnP7poRYI4acRJTys_0qFDVId5aeiOB2uaSkls2H_FtVBbRo-VjWRhFYBxcR9ctakYg86J8C4kR9GCCnvQckEHT7qVOUbDOgGJKOc1UjRvSfw95NpsGTHtvMQZHSvC/s200/P1010204.JPG" width="199" /></a></div>
<br />
Once you are happy with the placement of your image, it's time to add the snow. I used Martha Stewart Snow Glitter. To finish off the ornament, I added a bow and some greenery made with the MS Pine Punch.<br />
I apologize for the pictures. It was difficult to get any without the glare of the light on them!<br />

Today I'm sharing a card I made using the new Suburbia cartridge. I love the simple silhouette designs and art style of this cartridge. I already had the sentiment, from Art Impressions, and found this image on Suburbia that I thought worked perfectly with it. The images on the cartridge are basically two layers, one black outer layer and one that is done in color for a little contrast. I made a few modifications, cutting the top layer twice so that the dress would be a print, rather than just the black.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQZ7ziuzm9YPjRgJ_kabPJpzAYNC5Xm6yO1XGKHJWazzg4xitHkWGuhJql7kpFoeb7pV1N1UoKpeh4dVeBIh84iQAXdzauYbv0811rPETqIDW5Uf4WMruL12lGWCND6dmPQBvIy1vSFH3h/s1600/P1010159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQZ7ziuzm9YPjRgJ_kabPJpzAYNC5Xm6yO1XGKHJWazzg4xitHkWGuhJql7kpFoeb7pV1N1UoKpeh4dVeBIh84iQAXdzauYbv0811rPETqIDW5Uf4WMruL12lGWCND6dmPQBvIy1vSFH3h/s320/P1010159.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
These are the three cuts I made. The bottom layer in white glitter (though you can't tell from the picture!), then the top, or shift, layer in a print and the black.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYuCYK7k4j2Hdrqr8hXAnyCIBYJM_qdzbIS8X2dMBQhp7Gy86shxTA1hnThy2K74fwi4UQEwJumqxLyBWpKYhmsrGuzOEHE7WU8muXh1MHggDJlYXuzBEzPZQx7QQQFtCy6odAHtGxlaww/s1600/P1010162.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYuCYK7k4j2Hdrqr8hXAnyCIBYJM_qdzbIS8X2dMBQhp7Gy86shxTA1hnThy2K74fwi4UQEwJumqxLyBWpKYhmsrGuzOEHE7WU8muXh1MHggDJlYXuzBEzPZQx7QQQFtCy6odAHtGxlaww/s320/P1010162.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I cut the pieces I didn't need off the print layer, leaving only the dress portion.<br />
<br />

Here is the image with all the layers put together. There is a tiny hole in the head that I assumed was supposed to be an earring. A small drop of Pearl Pen worked to make it stand out.<br />

A close up of the stamped sentiment, heat embossed in brown. The small ric-rac was a piece that just happened to be on my desk. I thought it worked well!<br />

Here is the final product and I was really happy with the result! The background papers are from DCWV's Linen Closet collection. The floral print reminded me of vintage wallpaper. The chair is from Love You a Latte and the paper is from the same DCWV stack. Her dress is My Mind's Eye Stella Rose, Gertie collection. I also added some small adhesive pearls, because what lady would be caught without her pearls on, right?<br />This was a fun card for me, made for a special friend, and I was so glad that it came out pretty much as I imagined it!<br />

I have been busy with a couple of different swaps I joined and two of them didn't have much to do with paper. I'll post pics from those as soon as I'm able. For now, here are the boxes:<br />

I'm participating in a use your stash challenge and am happy to say that everything I used was stuff I already had. The paper is DCWV, the flowers, bling and brads from Recollections. I actually had those flowers in a bag of things I was going to get rid of. They ended up being perfect for this project! <br />

Here's the box with the top off. It actually held a good amount of small candy bars.<br />
Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. We had so much fun trick or treating with the grand kids, but boy did we enjoy the quiet when everyone went home!<br />

repeating! Unfortunately I haven't seen these pails at Michaels
recently. I hope they bring them back.<br />
<br />
A few weeks ago I
found these cute plastic pails for $1 at Michaels. I thought they'd
make perfect Halloween treat buckets so I grabbed a few to decorate for
the grand kids. I love how they turned out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I
used Oracal vinyl, and even though this was only my second time to use
it, it was much easier than I expected it to be. I added some bling to
the purple one and cute buttons to the others. Here's a list of the
carts used:<br />

This was such a fun project, I want to make more! I'll have to think of some more kiddos I can make some for!<br />

Hi everyone! This was my post for October on the Cricut Fanatics Blog.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2FJ9_6JRckNBSQMo1A_4ZpO9TqPkgY2xOSHcF2nec0jlKAoBELN2VOyK73iicbq9OiTFvRG8Wa9_ZkYvas3eBIlqfWMUKOYWwVNPqQuuL4XL8Oq-6aSYiogRy1hyMDUFTHozNOrjIp-4/s1600/cfb+1012+b.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2FJ9_6JRckNBSQMo1A_4ZpO9TqPkgY2xOSHcF2nec0jlKAoBELN2VOyK73iicbq9OiTFvRG8Wa9_ZkYvas3eBIlqfWMUKOYWwVNPqQuuL4XL8Oq-6aSYiogRy1hyMDUFTHozNOrjIp-4/s320/cfb+1012+b.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2FJ9_6JRckNBSQMo1A_4ZpO9TqPkgY2xOSHcF2nec0jlKAoBELN2VOyK73iicbq9OiTFvRG8Wa9_ZkYvas3eBIlqfWMUKOYWwVNPqQuuL4XL8Oq-6aSYiogRy1hyMDUFTHozNOrjIp-4/s1600/cfb+1012+b.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>
<div align="justify" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 22px; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
I
hope you are having a great Friday! For today's project I'm sharing a
cute Halloween card I made for my grandson. He loves everything I create
for him with the Cricut, and he especially enjoys making things with
me. He calls my craft room my Making room! Anyway, on to the card.</div>
<div align="justify" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 22px; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
I
started with a piece of white card stock cut 5 1/4" by 4" then covered
it diagonally with coordinating strips of washi tape. I left the pieces
long then folded the ends over the edges of the card stock for a clean,
finished look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxoxyTJc7oYlefYrvlpBnUoL-D7msUPlZTANR29u9Pba5rab6koZIQwCgByJoIqKXrGprX-nC48YRFopWAW6OyAt6fdWrJFsZr8oc_sofYMGPiLja7syQRgDTCbhwDcu5TdCVymUztDyo/s1600/cfb+1012+a.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxoxyTJc7oYlefYrvlpBnUoL-D7msUPlZTANR29u9Pba5rab6koZIQwCgByJoIqKXrGprX-nC48YRFopWAW6OyAt6fdWrJFsZr8oc_sofYMGPiLja7syQRgDTCbhwDcu5TdCVymUztDyo/s320/cfb+1012+a.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I
then mounted this on a piece of black 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" card stock. The
green mat is from Elegant Edges and is cut at 3.75" from a scrap of Bo
Bunny paper. The edges were inked with Walnut Stain Distress ink by
Ranger. It was adhered to the card with liquid glue. The phrase is from
the A Frightful Affair cartridge, cut at 2.96" out of orange glitter
paper from DCWV. The original image has a skull on it, but I used the
Gypsy's hide contour feature to cut only the words. The little skeleton
is from the Trick or Treat cartridge and is cut at 3.70". My little
trick for gluing all those small pieces is to pour a little puddle of
glue out (I have a small plastic lid that I use for that) then use
tweezers to pick up the small piece, dip lightly in the glue, then place
on the bigger piece. I finished him off by adding some google eyes. For
added fun, I used an Action Wobble to attach the skeleton to the card.
It was actually a little too big but I was able to trim off some of the
edges so it wouldn't be seen from the front. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie_5zr6a-t9dyic8JePdXW5YDOCvc6tRR5YC6rwe_zkGyle75ZeJRH-SSZNo82GPghCX5EYALSYNoXNGIyZ2MRKeEs15fCM8-LFkwsOwjRgdewwTeljRe_K2o1O0IZ0fGzYtlaGk2ZvoA/s1600/cfb+1012+c.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie_5zr6a-t9dyic8JePdXW5YDOCvc6tRR5YC6rwe_zkGyle75ZeJRH-SSZNo82GPghCX5EYALSYNoXNGIyZ2MRKeEs15fCM8-LFkwsOwjRgdewwTeljRe_K2o1O0IZ0fGzYtlaGk2ZvoA/s320/cfb+1012+c.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here's
my attempt at a shot of the Action Wobble in motion! Once the card was
complete I realized that I almost completely covered the washi tape
background. Oh well, I still like the look of it!<br />
That's my project for this month, hope you enjoy it! Have a great weekend, and as always, thanks for stopping by!<br />

If you complete the hop and leave a comment on all the posts, you will be eligible to win a Cricut Chic and Scary cartridge! In addition to that, if you leave a comment on my post you will have a chance to win an Anna Griffin Halloween set. You can check out both prizes by scrolling down.<br />
For today's project I decorated two plastic charger plates with vinyl. These plates are from Michael's and and come in a variety of colors, which change seasonally. FYI, the plates are for decorative purposes only and are not recommended for food service. Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone was wondering!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOaEy1oFf0q9tssGYInpRlkKRqghcmuYdzP_upCDuYBdF1U07dkYlkEXJwJPzmDbhHqoMsfzp9_oq23iALScwISysF3_X4H1NHnUyku_MlC7HT17dFCgm63HepVZLUV8bVcLyz2Gb603U/s1600/DSC_1003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOaEy1oFf0q9tssGYInpRlkKRqghcmuYdzP_upCDuYBdF1U07dkYlkEXJwJPzmDbhHqoMsfzp9_oq23iALScwISysF3_X4H1NHnUyku_MlC7HT17dFCgm63HepVZLUV8bVcLyz2Gb603U/s320/DSC_1003.JPG" width="319" /></a></div>

For this one I used the Word Collage cartridge and the Gypsy. I used the hide contour feature to select different words and then cut them out of the color vinyl I wanted them to be. Believe it or not, the most time consuming part of this for me was choosing which words would be which color! The little characters around the edges are from the Paper Trimmings cartridge. To fill in the spaces in between, I added some jewels in Halloween colors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This plate is obviously a Thanksgiving theme. The phrase is from the Inspired Hearts cartridge, the center flourishes from Cricut Alphabet and the outer leaf flourish from Thanksgiving. I used a dark brown vinyl for the phrase and a light grey for the other cuts. I also added some jewels to this plate to fill in the blank spaces. After adding the larger jewels to the flourishes I couldn't decide if I liked them or not. I guess I'll live with it for a while and see.<br />
I hope you enjoyed today's projects. Next up is the fabulous Michele at <span style="color: #cc0000;"> <a href="http://scrap-n-dance.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Scrap and Dance</a> .</span><br />

For today's post I created a cheerful Fall wall hanging. I started with a piece of blue Coordinations card stock. To add some subtle texture I stamped some small fall images and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. The paper was machine stitched around the edges with a large zig-zag stitch. The tree and leaves are from the Cricut Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. The tree was cut twice, the, each piece was layered with foam tape. Some of the branches were outlined with Cinnamon Stickles. The leaves were cut in different fall colors with some cut smaller and placed along the bottom of the page. The cute kissing squirrels are from Live Simply. They are placed on the page with double layers of pop dots for more dimension. The phrase is from 3 Birds on Parade. Gold adhesive jewels were added to the letters after they were outlined with a brown sharpie.</div>

He has gotten into rock climbing the past couple of years so I was happy to find this cut in the Silhouette Store.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDn9y3w6cYpJR-mPBxeeO3NBQEFWbfv_qDq_GC2kVlVkwQWawBpvFZioikrbowbsAztuOL4uZxRztDtWSDrHeqFpBxPae_J3y_FUE2bUW34eokevzg7CoKClMYnxEvciT6rXXk9Q0hPuCA/s1600/DSC_0755.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDn9y3w6cYpJR-mPBxeeO3NBQEFWbfv_qDq_GC2kVlVkwQWawBpvFZioikrbowbsAztuOL4uZxRztDtWSDrHeqFpBxPae_J3y_FUE2bUW34eokevzg7CoKClMYnxEvciT6rXXk9Q0hPuCA/s320/DSC_0755.JPG" width="254" /></a></div>
The actual cut is just the blue part, but I was able to create the shadow by using the offset feature. I created the sentiment tab with the software too, using print and cut.<br />
The striped paper is DCWV from the Autumn Melody stack. The blue and brown paper is Coordinations. On the rock portion of the cut, I sanded the paper a little with a nail file, then lightly inked it with Old Linen Distress Ink. I added some small copper brads to complete it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZh0iyIhGu5JSRMPQTmkw3kU8EeY4yLgi49BOYCOngAgozucYlrB9TqtHJ5kYcTmI6faQX0PLQ6Zd_UypKTdhDQXMtPGDZZFMQBL46v9NKxLoFCdwnvEZmr7un2-7TL3-Qa5pNn__0etcO/s1600/DSC_0756.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZh0iyIhGu5JSRMPQTmkw3kU8EeY4yLgi49BOYCOngAgozucYlrB9TqtHJ5kYcTmI6faQX0PLQ6Zd_UypKTdhDQXMtPGDZZFMQBL46v9NKxLoFCdwnvEZmr7un2-7TL3-Qa5pNn__0etcO/s320/DSC_0756.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here's the inside, just a little pun. This cut is from the Cricut Cupcake Wrappers cartridge. I'm finding that I am using both my Cameo and Cricut on quite a few projects. I guess it's just nice to have so many options!<br />
Thanks for stopping by!Mariahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02524660914246023884noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873121388202407451.post-26564059229347789252012-08-17T00:03:00.000-05:002012-08-17T00:03:11.089-05:00Stick Pin SwapHi everyone. I recently participated in my first stick pin swap with some of the members of the Circle. There were three groups of 20 and we were to make 2 pins per group. I was only in one group, but after seeing some of the lovely pins that were created, I wished I had been in all three! Anyway, here are the pins I made.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhACWZSiIbSMgoSO_FivyQoAnxuhxgvCP6hBMMgxMgnTbGAylqreh0eo1dvFE8z1-taAGLNDYtHa3PWEhG6YYTTBydj7Rh-ycjZlAsiPvjLKQNAlRaIDidHW0WuNl23a-3HEibNIECMbcYc/s1600/P1000955.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhACWZSiIbSMgoSO_FivyQoAnxuhxgvCP6hBMMgxMgnTbGAylqreh0eo1dvFE8z1-taAGLNDYtHa3PWEhG6YYTTBydj7Rh-ycjZlAsiPvjLKQNAlRaIDidHW0WuNl23a-3HEibNIECMbcYc/s320/P1000955.JPG" width="259" /></a></div>
Part of the swap was to create a holder to put the pins in. I came up with a matchbook style holder. It was pretty simple, especially compared to what some of the others did.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So far he seems to be taking it well! He has a great sense of humor, a super quick wit, and he will zing anyone if he gets the chance. My cards for him are almost always humorous and if I can get one on him, well I'm going to do it. <br />

The paper is from Cosmo Cricket, the Joy Ride collection. I used my Cricut to cut the images for this card. The girl is from Forever Young, the word bubble from Create a Critter and the argyle mat from Elegant Edges. I added some faux stitching with a Sew Stamper. The numbers are Thickers Sparkles. The sentiment is computer generated. The inside reads: <span style="color: #cc0000;">I know how sensitive old people can be about their age!</span><br />He had a wonderful birthday celebration with our girls, their husbands and the grand kids. One of our sons in law cooked an awesome dinner and I made his favorite German chocolate cake. I don't think he really even minded that I teased him about getting old!<br />

I guess we all get in our little crafting funks though, don't we? I did just finish a Copic coloring class - see my new badge on the sidebar?- and I will say I was spending some quality time with my markers. I guess I need to do more stamping so I can show off my new skills, ha, ha!<br />
Anyway, I thought I'd share a couple of cards I made a while back. I used the Close To My Heart Dotty paper pack for these, I really like the bright vibrant colors. The butterfly is a stamp from the CTMH Love Clusters set. It was stamped
with Lagoon ink then heat embossed with a Halographic embossing powder.They are adhered to the cards with foam tape.<br />

On the first card, small rhinestones were added to the body. Some small butterflies were stamped then heat embossed to the yellow polka dot paper. A yellow satin ribbon was tied around the card, and a button was added with some hemp twine.<br />
On the next card pearls were used for the butterfly body and a pearl flourish was added to the yellow background. Seam binding, which was dyed light yellow, was tied around this card. Machine stitching was added to both cards, but a smaller, tighter setting was used for the bottom card.<br />
If you're interested in the Copic class, Created by Color is now registering for another basic class that's starting in August. Just go <a href="http://www.createdfromcolor.com/2012/07/basic-class-registration-now-open-for-august-6th-start-date/" target="_blank">HERE</a> for the info. I highly recommend this class!<br />
