I'm on a Roll!

Two posts in one day! I figured while I had the time I'd go ahead and post the card I made for my husband for Valentine's Day. I heard this song, by ELO, (that's Electric Light Orchestra for those of you not old enough to know!) and the idea for the card just popped in my head. Guess you could say a bulb went off. (really bad pun) Anyway, I had to have a flourescent because Tim's a fanatic about using these in the house. Of course, there's not a cut for a bulb like this, so I created one in the Cricut Design Studio. It was fun to create and Tim liked it.
As I said, I created the bulb image with the Cricut Design Studio, using images from George and Basic Shapes. The upper part was heat embossed with Holographic embossing powder by Ranger. The hearts are also from George and the light ray is from the 50 States cart, part of the Arizona state flag. The tag was cut from Fabulous Finds and the sentiment is computer generated. The background paper was embossed with the Cuttlebug. The ribbon is from Making Memories.

Another Valentine

It's a little late, I know, but I really liked the way this card turned out.
The colors are a little washed out, the background paper is much more vibrant pinks. I got it years ago from Oriental Trading Co. The image is cut from Core'dinations paper, The Chocolate Box collection. This card stock, if you've never used it, is textured with a dark color on one side ( in this case brown) and a different color on the other. You can sand, tear or antique the darker side so that the other color shows through. I sanded just a little on my image, mostly around the edges. The image was cut from the A Child's Year cartridge in both a shadow and regular cut. The hearts were covered with Fruit Punch Stickles. It's attached to the card base with foam tape. The tag was cut from the Nestabilities Labels 3 set. The sentiment is from Studio G and stamped with SU Close to Cocoa ink. The cute corduroy button is also from SU. The ribbon is from Michael's and was actually brown and white, so I colored it pink with marker. Same thing with the ribbon in the button.

My Valentines

One of my half hearted New Year's resolutions was to be better about posting on my blog. That's not really working out so far, but I'm going to keep trying. One of my problems is that I forget to take pictures of things before I give them out. For example, I made some cute little baskets and filled them with goodies for my girls and their families. Well at least I took pictures of the Valentine cards I made.
This is my grandson's card and for it I used the Paisley cart (I love this cart). The top part was stamped with a stamp from the SU Happy Heart set then heat embossed in clear. The paper for the elephant is from SEI, Playday collection. The sentiment is stamped from sets by Stampendous and The Paper Studio.
This is my granddaughter's card, again cut from the Paisley cart. I used Fun Flock on the kitty and added some tiny rhinestones from the Micheal's $1 bin to the crown. The sentiment is a Studio G stamp and the flower is Imaginisce.
This one has no Cricut cuts. The stamp is from the $1 bin at JoAnn's, and unfortunately I don't know the company because I didn't save the packaging. I don't want to guess and say the wrong thing. The image was cut with a classic oval Nestability then layered with a scalloped oval Nestability. The background paper is from K & Co, the WB Gypsy Baby Paper Pad. Corner stamps are Studio G and Su Close to Cocoa ink. The bottom strip was created with a Martha Stewart punch and ribbon from Michael's. Forgive me, but I don't know the names of all the different punches or I would list them. Also, I colored the image with Copic markers which I am still just learning how to use. I need a lot more practice!
I have a couple more cards, but think I'll do separate posts for them, this is long enough as it is.

Pagoda Passion Card

I made this for our dear friends' daughter's birthday. It's amazing, we've known her since before she was born and now she is 19 and engaged! She likes oriental deco and I think she even has a kimono hanging on one of the walls in her room. I figured the Pagoda Passion cart would have perfect images to make a card for her. Hope she likes it.

Well, I goofed. While I was posting this I realized I used the wrong Kanji. I meant to use the one for "celebrate" but instead used "believe". I haven't written anything inside yet, so I'll just make this work!

It's been a busy December

Well, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas just flew by for my family, as I'm sure it did for all of you. In addition to getting ready for Christmas, we also had my granddaughter's birthday celebration. She turned one on 12/16. It was so much fun, and she actually started walking at her party!
This year, my mother in law decided to pay us a visit, and my house is in no shape for company. It seems we always have some project we are trying to finish up around here. So, besides Christmas and birthday I also had to get our guest room put together. She arrived on Christmas Eve and it's been nice. She's enjoying seeing her great grandchildren!
Just after Thanksgiving, I tried to get a picture of my adorable grandkids to send out in our cards. It did not go well :)
We started out like this... Doesn't Carter look thrilled?
And ended up here. Don't worry, Gigi isn't hurt or anything. She just didn't want to be sitting there with her cousin!
Oh well, maybe next year. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Happy Birthday Felix!

My son in law celebrated his birthday yesterday. We went out to dinner with them on Saturday to one of his favorite BBQ restaurants. He loves the transformers, but I don't have a stamp or cut for that, so I made this robot card instead. I'm so happy because it actually came out the way I pictured it. That doesn't seem to happen very often! You can't tell in the pic, but the embossed piece is a silver metallic paper. It looks really cool in person.

My first challenge card

So I decided to try this week's challenge for the Cuttlebug Spot. The challenge this week was to use fruit and I immediately thought of this Just Rite Autumn Blessings stamp. The image was stamped twice and the center of one was colored with Prisma colored pencils. This was cut out using a small classic oval Nestability. Then the entire image with the border was cut using the next larger die. A scalloped oval Nestability was used for the brown mat. The red background was embossed with the Cuttlebug Leafy Branch folder and the corners were cut with the lg corner rounder punch from Hobby Lobby. The tiny pearls are from Recollections (don't look too close or you'll see where I moved them around!) The ribbon is from Offray. The apples were covered with Glossy Accents, but I don't think that shows too much in the picture.
